selected, but at the same time I feel a certain level of gratification that all of our hard work and dedication was rewarded. It’s a good thing for our
company and a great thing for a Central Florida project to be recognized at the national level.”

A perfect mix of affordable Green Building principles, Amherst Place is a culmination of two single family residences from one cir-1920 Craftsman style
home.  The original home was approximately 800s.f. on a 53-ft wide lot. The scope included a complete remodel of the original home and a second
floor and garage addition.  A new attached 2,550-s.f. 2-story home was also added. Both homes were the first in Orlando to achieve all three Florida
Green Building Coalition, Energy Star, and Florida Water Star certifications.

“Our focus on this project was conservation,” said Hardwick. “We wanted to execute as many energy efficient practices as possible either by
maintaining existing benefits or adding in new ones. Through execution of an overall energy strategy, we were able to achieve exceptional energy
value without the use of solar power. We also achieved exceptional water conservation value by carefully selecting a Florida-friendly landscape plan
and through utilization of high-performing low-flow water fixtures.”

The prestigious annual Green Building Awards honor home builders, remodelers, home builders associations and other organizations for advancing
green building through innovative design and construction techniques, excellent educational programs and successful advocacy efforts. The awards
are part of the NAHB National Green Building Program, NAHBGreen, which includes education, advocacy, marketing and certification services for
green homes.

“Greg Hardwick shows how far residential green building has come,” said Eric Borsting, chair of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee. “This project
is a great illustration of sustainable, environmentally responsible construction and a good example for our members as NAHB continues to lead green
building into the mainstream.”
